My travel beauty essentials!!!

Beauty

tbe 2

By no stretch of the imagination would I consider myself a travel junkie. However, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to jetting off a good few times over the last couple of months.  I recently went on three different holidays in the space of four months – I know, crazy! And although my bank account hasn’t been very forgiving. I have to say, I’ve been learning how to embrace the meaning of ‘travel light!’

While my travel destination normally determines which beauty products I decide to seal into my little plastic bag. The one thing I noticed about my last few holidays is that there were three products in particular that made a reoccurring appearance in handbag. Now,I feel obliged to pop these little gems at the top of my travel beauty essentials list!

Declare Cleansing Powder*200ml, €24.40, Meagherspharmacy.ie

june faves cleansing pwder

After using this product for the first time, I wondered why more brands didn’t use a similar formula for their cleansers. Not only does this cleansing powder save you from worrying about any leakages. But it also gives you more room to put other liquids into your plastic  bag! Between roll-on deodorants, sprays and perfumes, things can get a little crammed! I have a travel size cleanser at home so it makes it even handier for me. But even putting a small amount of this powder into a plastic travel container and straight into your handbag can make the world of a difference! To read more about this product, have a look at my June favourites post.

M accessories Loofah/Hemp face mitt (Bath set €1.50), Dealz

IMG_0125

While I do enjoy pampering myself with my Clarisonic. Sometimes I think it’s just best to go back to basic skin care! These loofah/hemp mitts are incredibly gentle on the skin and they each do an absolute stellar job at removing dry and flaky skin insofar that I would sometimes use a wet mitt alone to clean my face  – it leaves my skin with a smooth texture even when I just use water! This set comes with a large bath glove and then two smaller mitts that have a strap at the back.  The natural fibres of these mitts makes it a perfect breeding ground for lurking bacteria. So it is important to replace your sponge every three weeks. At €1.50 a set, it’s impossible to break the bank!

Sonic Chic Lady Lace Toothbrush* (Gift Set RRP€39.95), Pharmacies Nationwide

IMG_0129

I’ve had an obsession with having pearly for as long as I can remember. I just think that there’s something about a good set of teeth that helps brighten up the face! So if you’re an obsessive like myself. Or if you’re someone who is constantly on the go, then having one of these would come in handy! In this set you get a cute little toiletry bag, 1 AAA battery, and 5 replacement heads – which I thought was more than just a little bit generous! While I’m no expert in the technology behind this product, I do know that SONIC Chic vibrates at 22,000 strokes per minutes meaning it would probably reduce your job by more than half! It’s a great size and I love the little protective cap ! While this design is a limited edition, you can still get the full set for half price (€19.95) in selected online stores!

I hope you enjoyed my post, and if you have any golden travel products, I would love to know what they are! Tweet me anytime @FilomenaKaguako 🙂

YSL Black Opium: Your autumn/winter fragrance hunt ends here!

Beauty/ product review

black opium ysl

With sunny season coming to an end, we’ll soon have to say goodbye to summer attire like open-toe sandals, crop tops and sun dresses. It’s not long until light clothing will be replaced by heavy coats, and scarves and winter boots will become a regular part of our #ootd

While some people enjoy wearing oversized jumpers and woolly socks, others can’t bare the thought of it. So if you’re a summer lover in need of something to look forward to this autumn/winter, then worry not, because I have just the thing: YSL Black Opium.

ysl black opium

30ml , €57.00, Arnotts

Black Opium is a scent that will awaken your senses in ways that not all fragrances are capable of. It has a warm, oriental and spicy touch that is very hard to dislike. Not only do I find it sensuous, but I also like how the packaging is a reflection of the scent itself. The subtly textured black glass represents mystery, while the glazed glitter represents glam and femininity.

The notes:

Top: black coffee – this gives a shot of adrenaline

Middle: white florals – to entice and seduce

Base: vanilla – for sweetness and sensuality

ysl black opium edp

YSL describes this perfume as an audacious and electrifying fragrance, and I couldn’t agree more. The notes alone are enough to make you want to give it a try and the combination of the three notes give you a sensation of ecstasy.

First there is the wake-up call. The coffee bean note hits you hard, jolting the senses. Next, it becomes softer and more feminine with the flowers of jasmine sambac and absolu of fleur d’oranger to finish incredibly addictive and emboldened by the ambrosial appeal of vanilla and the woody notes of cedar and patchouli, giving roundness, depth, and mysterious elegance.

ysl black opium edt

Some people regard Black Opium as an all-year round fragrance. But, I personally think it works better as an autumn/winter night time scent. I think it is be bold and seductive without being over the top. It is intended for a modern woman who loves to live in the fast lane.

Have you tested Black Opium? If so, I’d love to hear what you think of it! 🙂

New beauty range alert!!! The Body Shop Oils Of Life & Spa Of The World

Beauty/ Events/ Skincare

thebody shop spa of the world

Yesterday evening saw the launch of two new ranges from The Body Shop: Oils Of Life, a skincare range which uses natural seed oils to revive, replenish & revitalise the skin, and Spa Of The World, a collection of pampering-session products which were created using naturally sourced ingredients from different parts of the world.

To mark this special occasion, a group of bloggers were invited to get pampered in their Grafton Street store, and being an avid fan of the Italian Summer Fig, I was delighted to be asked to attend the event.

the body shop event

Unfortunately, I showed up a tad bit late, so I missed all the lovely talks and speeches. However, I still got the chance to get my beautiful henna tattoo done, indulge in some gourmet popcorn from Cornude and fresh strawberries from Nudiefoods and of course, have a look at the new collections.

the body shop oils and spa

Of all the oils, scrubs and creams I got to play around with, I must say that my favourite was the Japanese Camellia Cream. It is velvet moisturising body cream that has a soft and silky texture. I fell in love with the smell of it and found it subtle, but still very captivating. It’s definitely going down on the wish list!

the body shop cream

To make up for being late, I stayed towards the very end so I got the chance to catch up with my fellow blogger friends and even meet some new ones (the perks of being in the blogging world!).Unfortunately, I didn’t get to take home a goodie bag, as they were all out – sign of a good event!

However, the lovely Revolve girls are sending one out to me so be sure to keep an eye on my mini reality TV show a.k.a Snap Chat to see what I’ll be getting! 🙂

And before I leave you, how amazing is the design on my henna tattoo?

A big thank you to Revolve, The Body Shop, Cornude, Nudiefoods for such a fab evening!

7 Bad beauty habits to break

Beauty/ Skincare

make up fixes

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit: you leave mascara on your lashes today, you forget to wash your face tomorrow and before you know it, going to bed with a full face of makeup becomes a normal part of your life.

Sleeping with makeup is probably one of the most common bad beauty habits out there – next to nail biting, that is. But just because these habits are common, it doesn’t mean you should carry on biting your nails or sleeping with makeup on like it’s okay!

Here are some of the worst beauty mistakes you should never fall victim to:

1. Using dirty brushes

Now when I say dirty, I don’t mean that you can physically see dirt on your makeup brush (that would be pretty bad). What I’m talking about is the brushes that don’t get washed as often as they should. Using unclean brushes on your face spreads bacteria all over it. As well as that, makeup doesn’t apply so smoothly when you use an unclean brush so if you want a flawless finish, be sure to use a clean brush! Here is a quick guideline for cleaning your makeup tools.

2. Using old products

Since cosmetics aren’t required to have a sell by date on them, it is always a good idea to make note of when you first opened your beauty products.  This way, you’ll have some sort idea as to when you should replace your products. But, even without little reminders, a bit of common sense can tell you when to dump out a face cream that has been lying on your shelf for years. If it looks funny or smells funky, then dump it!

3. Biting nails

Although biting nails can be a sign of nervousness, a lot of people do it out of boredom. Apparently, there are more bacteria under your nails than there are under a toilet seat. In other words, you’d be better off licking the toilet seat than chewing your nails – apologises for the mental image. If biting nails is one of your bad habits then maybe you should consider getting a nail varnish that helps with nail biting. There are plenty of these available on the market at the moment. They work by simply putting a vile taste in your mouth every time you bite your nails – genius!

4. Licking lips

There’s nothing worse than licking your lips in the hopes that it’ll keep them moisturised. If anything, it’ll only cause you to want to moisturise them even more. When your lips are dry, use a lip balm (preferably with an SPF), balms should be your only go-to when it comes to keeping your lips nice and moist, not saliva. My favourite is the Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm as well as the Nivea Fruity Shine Lip Balm in Cherry  – it actually looks like gloss!

5. Skipping the SPF

Without a good SPF, your skin becomes more sensitive to sun spots, aging and wrinkles. If you think it’s too much hassle using a sunscreen as well as a moisturiser, then you could always try to get a moisturiser that has an SPF of some sort,  even if it is just 20. In my books, sunscreen is what keeps you young looking – as well as a good diet of course!

6. Face touching

This habit is pretty hard to break as most of us do it without even noticing. But it definitely is a habit that you should attempt to break if you want to avoid unpleasant breakouts. All the touching, scratching and rubbing is one of the worst ways to spread dirt, oil and bacteria on your skin.

7. Sleeping with makeup on

It can be very tempting to fall asleep without giving your face a good clean. But, if you don’t want to wake up to any unpleasant surprises in the morning, then be sure to cleanse your face before going to bed. Clogged pores can cause breakouts on your face, and a deeply cleansed skin help your night cream work a lot better!

Must-have beauty tools for the skincare obsessive

Beauty/ Skincare

MUST-HAVE BEAUTY TOOLS

This year, I’ve decided to revolutionise my beauty regime. I know, I know, it’s a big step for me – especially since I’m so used my own ways of doing things! But I guess there’s no harm in trying new things, and besides, “new year, new me,” right?

To kick things off, I’ve gotten myself a deep cleansing brush. ‘Waste of money,’ I hear some of you say, but it’s actually been doing a pretty good job considering how much (or how little) I ended up paying for it!

So for this post, I’ll be going through some of the beauty tools I’ve already started using as well as the ones I’m in the process of ordering. I will be getting most – if not all – of these products:

Konjac sponge

konjac sponge

Konjac sponges are all the rage in Japan! They’re made from vegetable fibers and mineral rich extracts. The one thing that really caught my eye about these guys is that you can get them in different colours to target different skin types. For instance, the black sponge gets it’s colour from bamboo charcoal and it’s great for oily skin or for those who are prone to breakouts, while the red sponge is your ticket if you have dry and sensitive skin! You can also get it in green, pink or the original white konjac sponge with no colour. They help you can cleanse, exfoliate and remove impurities from the skin. Since the konjac plant is 100% alkaline, using it on the face helps balance the PH level of the skin. The one thing that’s important to note about these bad boys is that they have a shelf life. Since konjac sponges aren’t  made from synthetic fibers, you’d probably have to bin it every 4 – 5 weeks, depending on how often you use it!

PRICE:£6.99 – £11, Amazon

Comedone extractor (blackhead extractor)

comedone extractore for blackheads

This metal tool is used to unclog blocked pores. You can get ones that have a single loop on one end as well as the ones that have a loop on either end to accommodate for bigger pores. Usually, licensed estheticians and dermatologist use this tool. But in this day and age, it is available for the general public to buy either online or in their local pharmacy. When you’re using one of these guys, you have to be very careful about how much pressure you apply; too little and it won’t work, but too much and you could be left with scarring! The best way to do it with minimal scarring is to follow these two steps:

  1. Disinfect the blackhead extractor with rubbing alcohol and then warm your skin with a cloth or a steamer to open up the pores.
  2. Gently press down on the blackhead with the tool and if the blackhead doesn’t come out, leave it alone and try again another time!

PRICE: £2.99 – £10.99, Amazon

Deep facial cleansing brush

3d cleansing brush

A lot people think it’s enough to use their finger tips, a good cleanser and a few splashes of water to clean their face. However, it doesn’t always do the job properly, especially after spending the day wearing a full face of makeup! A deep cleansing brush gets right into your pores to get rid of all the dirt and oil your skin builds up during the day. It gives the skin an extra glow – not to mention that squeaky clean feeling! There are so many available in the market today so you really do have a lot to choose from. The one I recently bought is called the ELISHACOY 3D spin cleaner. It is a battery operated machine that comes with two different speeds. What I liked the most about it is the fact that it comes with two different brushes; a normal one for the entire face and blackhead brush for targeted areas.

PRICE: $43.08, Wishtrend

Face steamer

facial steamer

Face steamers have been out for quite some time now, but it seems as though they are being forgotten about with all the other revolutionary systems that are coming out. It’s quite unfortunate because facial steaming does absolute wonders to the skin’s complexion. It stimulates blood circulation, which increases nutrients and oxygen to the skin, giving it a rosier and more youthful glow. Although it has it’s many benefits, it’s important to limit it to only one steam a week – just like exfoliating, you don’t want to over do it, otherwise it will have a negative effect on your skin.

PRICE: £15.99 – £60+ on Amazon

Derma roller

derma roller

This guy looks a bit scarier than the other products, and at first glance, you probably wouldn’t guess that it’s a beauty tool at all. However, this micro needle roller is a salon-level skin treatment that can be used at home for skin problems such as hyperpigmentation, cellulite, stretch marks and acne. It works by creating miniature punctures in the skin and pushing the pores open for a while. The body then releases growth factors that stimulate the production of collagen, the stuff that keeps your skin looking fresh and plump. You can get different sized needles to target different problems, but if you are just starting off, it’s always better to go for the smallest needle!

PRICE: £6.00 – £20+ on Amazon

Hope you found this post useful! First triers, please note: if you have any severe skin conditions, be sure to consult your doctor before trying any of these tools at home! Good luck! 🙂

Skincare glossary: what do these popular beauty terms really mean?

Beauty/ Skincare

dove ingredients list

We’re often told to go for products with certain ingredients. If you dry skin, you’re told to go for a moisturiser with an emollient and if you’re at the other end of the spectrum and have oily skin, then a cleanser with salicylic acid is your winning ticket. But what do these ingredients actually do? A clear understanding of how certain things function can help you make better choices when it comes to skincare products.

Here are a few popular words that you might have come across before and probably didn’t care to research because you ‘heard’ it was good:

E for Emollients

Emollients generally hold moisture in the skin. They keep the skin looking soft and supple. Some very popular and effective emollients would be avocado oil, shea butter and glycerine. If you have dry skin then always go for a moisturiser that has an emollient.

A for Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA)

AHA’s are naturally occurring acids found in milk and fruits. Generally, they help speed up the exfoliating process. This improves the texture of the skin and helps unclog nasty pores. Glycolic acid is one of the most commonly used AHAs.

A for Antioxidants

You’ve probably seen this word a couple of hundred times at this stage! Without getting too scientific, antioxidants keep the skin protected from harm caused by free radicals (damaged cells that can be problematic). Vitamins A, C and E, green tea, beta-carotene, and grape seed extracts are all highly effective antioxidants.

boots vitamin e night cream

E for Exfoliators

I love a good exfoliator! They are designed to help remove dead cells from the skin and help whatever you put on your face afterwards become for effective. As a rule of thumb, always look for an exfoliator that is designed especially for your face. Body scrubs are far too harsh to use on the delicate skin of la visage.

H for Humectants

Humectants absorb water from the air and help the skin retain moisture. Some very effective humectants include glycerin, algae extract and lactic acid.

B for Balms

Balms are super-rich moisturisers like shea butter or avocado extract that help target dry patches of the skin. They’re usually designed for people who have super dry skin but if you want a subtle glow on your face, you could warm some balm in between your hands and pat your cheeks after you’ve applied your makeup.

C for Collagen

Collagen is a fibrous protein that is present in the skin. When someone has high levels of collagen in their skin, it appears nice and firm. (I bet you just thought of someone there). As we age, the level of collagen declines and wrinkles begin to form. That’s why some older women – and even men – like to get injections, as they temporarily replace lost collagen.

R for Retinoids (Retin-A, Retinal, Renova)

Retinoids are derived from vitamin A. They are used in beauty products to fight acne and help build collagen to reverse the visible signs of aging. Since using retinoids makes the skin more sensitive to the sun, it is important to use an SPF. Some natural sources of retinoids include tomatoes, melon,fish-liver oils and leafy green vegetables.

sunscreen

SPF (Sun Protection Factor)

My favourite  S word! SPF measures  the degree of protection a product provides against harmful UVB rays from the sun. A lot of people are under the impression that an SPF should only be worn in the summer, however, it should be worn all year around.

S for Serums

Serums are corrective skin treatments that are highly concentrated and packed with ingredients to target specific skin problems. Uneven skin tone and dullness are usually it. Common ingredients found in serums would be vitamin C and green tea extract. They are generally applied after cleansing and before moisturising.

Vitamin K helps promote faster healing of swelling, bruising and skin irritation. A beauty product that contains this vitamin would be ideal for people with sensitive skin.

Vitamin E provides antioxidant protection. It protects the fatty acids in the skin which help keep the skin firm and young looking. Not many people know that vitamin E can act as a mild sunscreen as it has an SPF factor of 3.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that reduces the pigmentation of scars, making them less noticeable. High doses of vitamin C helps create a more even skin tone. Natural sources of this vitamin include oranges, red peppers and kiwis.

Next time you go shopping for a new beauty product, you will be able to see if it has the ingredients you need for your skin. I hope you found this useful! 🙂

Top tips for moisturising the skin

Beauty/ Skincare

moisturiser

Moisturisers do more than simply keep your skin hydrated; they are the true foundation of youth. The right one will enhance your skin by making it look brighter, smoother and healthier.  As well as that, they keep your skin protected from the weather and all the nasty chemicals polluting the air.

Whether you have dry skin, normal skin, combination skin or oily skin, it will benefit from you using some sort of moisturiser.

Here are some pro tips for moisturising the skin:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly and dry them properly before applying moisturiser.
  2. Use a  nickel-size amount on the face.
  3. Warm the moisturiser between your hands before usage.
  4. Always apply moisturiser while the skin is slightly damped.
  5. Use firm upward strokes during application.
  6. Gently press the product on the skin until it’s been completely absorbed.
  7. Use an oil control around our T-zone if you have oily skin.
  8. Use a balm with ingredients such as shea butter or glycerine, if you have dry skin.
  9. Always use a separate balm formulated specifically for lips.
  10. Mix a few different textures of moisturisers to get the best results i.e cream with natural oils.
  11. A fast-absorbing eye cream under concealer will help the skin under the eyes look smooth.
  12. Always use an SPF.

Hope you found these tips useful, if you have anything to add, then feel free to share!

Highlighting and contouring

Beauty

Highlighting attracts and contouring detracts

Those are the cardinal rules to highlighting and contouring, something that anybody who has even the slightest interest in makeup should know so if you’re going to know anything about makeup, let it be this….

Do you ever wonder how Tyra Banks has a nose that looks so perfectly narrow, or how Kim K has those perfectly shaped cheekbones? Well believe you me, it’s not all natural and let me assure you that this look can be achieved by everyone and anyone with this simple little ‘trick’ called highlighting and contouring.

So what exactly is highlighting and contouring??
It’s all about bringing dimension and glow to the face! With the highlighting you bring out your features and draw attention to certain areas while the contouring does the opposite by diminishes other areas, almost like a shadow effect.
So what do you need:
1. Highlighters – Mac prep + prime highlighter is great (just under 30E)
 2.Contours – E.L.F Contouring Blush & Bronzer (cheap and cheerful! $3)
3.Foundation –  the usual (it should match your skin tone)
4.Setting powder – optional
Note:
Always moisturize your face before applying any make up! You don’t want your face to appear dry….
how to highlight and contour

Kim K revealed…..

-Now that you know what you need, first start with applying the highlighter in the V area of your forehead, down your nose, under the eyes, cheekbones, on your brow line and chin as pictured above.
-Using a shade much darker than usual, contour under the cheekbones, on the temple, near the hair line, your jawline and contour the sides of the nose as well to make it appear thinner.
Note: if you look a bit scary after this, you’re on the right track!
-Now with a foundation that matches your skin tone blend everything in with a large brush and the lines should fade away gradually, eventually you see dimension just  blend blend blend!
If you use a setting powder, apply lightly to the face but generally, after this 3 step process you should have a beautifully defined , sculpted, yet NATURAL look!
This process takes the longest in my makeup application so if you spend over an hour on your face and you’re NOT highlighting and contouring, then I really don’t know what you’re doing!
What takes you the longest to complete in your makeup application process?

Pearlys Smile Box (Teeth Whitening Kit)

Beauty/ product review

pearlys smile box

I think it’s about time for me to give you my feedback on Pearlys Smile Box! Worth 60 euros, this teeth whitening kit was kindly sent to Bellefbeauty to review and ever since I used the Pearlys Teeth Whitening Powder I just couldn’t wait to get writing! (But that’s as far as excited I got, so prepare yourself ladies/gentlemen….)

So first things first, what’s in Pearlys Smile Box and how do you use it?

1. Pearlys Weekly Teeth-Brighten Powder
2. Pearlys Daily  Teeth-Whitening Foam
3. Pearlys Teeth Whitening Pen

As you can see, Pearlys Smile Box comes with 3 different products so with these 3 products (and 3 simple guidelines) you can be sure to have brighter teeth in no time!

So now for the steps…….

pearlys smile box

Step 1: Dampen your toothbrush and dip it into Pearlys Weekly Teeth-Brighten Powder. Brush your teeth as you normally would and do so for 2-4 mins (just listen to your favorite song and the time will fly!) This powder contains sodium bicarbonate and green tea that help polish your teeth to make it super-clean and super-shiny! (That’s what we’re aiming for right?)

Step 2:  Add a layer of Pearlys Teeth-Whitening Foam to your regular toothpaste and scrub a dub dub for another 2-4 mins! This foam contains 0.16% of sodium perborate, a substance that breaks down into oxygen and water, (the oxygen lifts the staining from inside the enamel, so you’ll be shining from the inside out!)

Step 3: Twist the whitening pen until you see a clear gel. Apply a thin layer to your teeth and avoid  getting the product directly onto your gums or lips for at least 60 seconds (close to impossible for me!)  After 10mins you can rinse your mouth and then avoid food/drink for another 30mins (Again,  not happening!)

So if you have  a little more time in your hands in the morning than most people, then Pearlys Teeth Whitening Pen should not be a huge problem for you. In general I found this quite odd to use (not to mention the fact that you have to avoid getting the product on your gums/lips, beyond awkward!!)

The teeth-whitening foam in Pearlys Smile Box didn’t really add much to my teeth whitening experience (except for the fact that there was a leak when I received it in the post)  so I think I’ll be giving that a pass as well!

Other than that I must admit that the brightening powder really does work wonders, it’s so refreshing and my teeth definitely felt brighter after a single use! Unfortunately you can only use it twice a week so that’s a bummer, but I guess it just makes you look forward to using it the following week! (I know I’m such a nerd!)

So what’s my final verdict, would I purchase Pearlys Smile Box Kit?

This kit was a miss for me! I think I could live without Pearlys Smile Box Kit to be quite honest, I would however purchase Pearlys Teeth-Brighten Powder which cost £15,00 online. Given how little you use of the powder, it would probably last a good few months, especially since the one I have still looks like I’ve never used it!

Have you used any home-whitening kits? If so, which ones?

BareMinerals Get Started Kit

Beauty/ product review

bareminerals get started kit

Before I tell you about how much fun I had at the Dublin Fashion Festival, I think it’s fair to tell you a bit about Bellefbeauty‘s visit to BareMinerals and my a mini lesson on using the BareMinerals Get Started Kit (56-58 euros). Anyone who knows me personally would know that I am against drag makeup ,instead, I always strive for the most natural look possible. So if you’re anything like me (and even if you do enjoy the occasional drag makeup) you will find that this kit is still perfect for an everyday ”no makeup” look.

For those of you who are cosmetically challenged, worry not, because the BareMinerals Get Started Kit has everything you need, from the right brushes, to a ‘Get Started Guide Book’ that will truly help you master their signature Swirl, Tap, Buff makeup technique (which I’m very happy to have mastered myself)

bareMinerals GET STARTED kit

So what’s in the Get Started Kit and how do I use it?

  •  After cleansing and moisturizing your face, you can start off with the Prime Time Foundation Primer (As you know I’m quite liking Benefit’s POREfessional primer at the moment, so I will definitely have to do a comparison post to see which primer I prefer)
  • When that is all set and done, use your Full Flawless Face Brush to apply the  BareMinerals SPF foundation that you choose from 20 different shades and 3 different formulas (original, matte or ready formula) but of course if you pop into BareMinerals they can help you decide on what’s the best formula for your skin type!

1.SWIRL a small amount of BareMinerals in the lid with the brush until it’s all tucked into the bristles. 2.TAP away any excess. There should be no visible bareMinerals on the outside of the brush. 3.BUFF bareMinerals onto the skin in a circular motion all over the face, concentrating on your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin.

  • Follow these instructions until you’re happy with the coverage you have built. If there are still some areas you would like to conceal, apply the Swirl, Tap, Buff technique but use the Max Concealer Cover Brush instead and apply to desired areas.
  • After that you can use the smaller Flawless Face Brush and apply the same Swirl, Tap, Buff technique to use the Warmth All-Over Face Color. Apply it in a 3 motion starting from the side of your forehead to under  your cheekbones and then backwards from the cheekbone to your jawline. This should add color to your face and give you a healthy sun-kissed glow.
  • Lastly, use your Full Flawless Face Brush to apply the Mineral Veil over your face in a circular motion. This will further absorb any oil and will keep your complexion fresh.

The BareMinerals Get Started Kit is about all you need for a natural and healthy everyday look! After the lovely staff in BareMinerals were finished with me I felt so much more fresh and alive! Especially after they used LASH DOMINATION (which you all know I love!)

What impressed me the most about the BareMinerals Get Started Kit is that you really only need a tiny bit of product followed by the Swirl, Tap, Buff technique to easily build the coverage you’re looking for. That aside, the Mineral veil that you apply at the very end to keep everything in place actually prevents the makeup from smudging (I witnessed it myself!!) so you no longer have to worry about wearing that pretty white blouse you’ve been dying to wear!

Have you picked up your BareMinerals Get Started Kit yet? If so, what are your favorite products so far, if not, what are you waiting for??? 🙂

Hope you’ve subscribed to Enhance What’s Yours Remember, Swirl, Tap and Buff ladies!

Willow Water

Beauty/ Natural beauty/ product review/ Youthful Skin

willow water

If there is one thing that a great skin care regime needs, it’s plenty of water. But, why drink any old water when you can have one that has naturally occurring beautifying properties?

I couldn’t agree more!

Honestly, I find it hard to disagree with anything that’s good for you and also has beauty benefits,  because it really is a win win. So when nearly 20l of Willow Water was sent to me for review I couldn’t wait to get started to see how it works……

So how does it work?

Willow Water contains a unique blend of minerals which has been proven to be effective in beautifying the skin. The high levels of calcium and the salicin in the Willow Water (sourced from the salicin enriched willow tree) contain anti-flammatory properties which can improve your skins appearance.

Who did it work for?

2 in 3 women with dry skin at the start of the trial felt their skin condition had improved by the end of it
5 out of 6 women who considered their skin condition to be oily at the start of the trial reported improvements
Of those suffering acne prior to the trial, 3 out of 4 reported improvements

Did it work for me?

Honestly, I have yet to see improvements in my complexion or blemishes on my skin, but then again, that could be because I haven’t been drinking Willow Water for long enough to make a judgement. All of the other testimonies were taken up to 6 weeks after being introduced to Willow Water.

Final verdict?

I will continue to drink Willow Water, (not religiously though) because it actually tastes nicer than some water you can get! Also, I love the packaging (quite a sophisticated bottle for water some would say) so carrying 1.5l of Willow Water isn’t the least bit embarrassing!

If you want to find out more about Willow Water, and are interested in getting some for yourself check out their website below:

Maybelline GREAT LASH vs BareMinerals LASH DOMINATION

Beauty/ product review

mascara

If you read my first post on mascara (or eye lash growth for that matter), you would know that I’m big into thick and long eye lashes. So When I popped into BareMinerals to pick up a free sample of their LASH DOMINATION mascara I was chuffed, even though I had bought Maybelline mascara a few weeks beforehand!

I guess you can never had enough mascara in your makeup bag

BARE MINERALS LASH DOMINATION

I must admit, it was good thing I did pick up a sample of BareMinerals LASH DOMINATION,because if I hadn’t, I would be left with not so lengthening mascara.

Maybeline’s GREAT LASH mascara claims to have a precise lash building brush, but I honestly think that it really doesn’t give the same effect as the ”PROTWIST” 180 wand on LASH DOMINATION.

After only two coats of BareMinerals LASH DOMINATION I managed to get the desired effect.

Bare Minerals LASH DOMINATIONAs you can see, BareMinerals LASH DOMINATION really    does add a lot of volume and colors to my eye lash here.    With only two coats, they looked fuller, darker and            longer and at only 20e, BareMineral LASH DOMINATION    offers a 10-in-1 lash benefits:

    1. Volume              6. Length

    2. Thickness        7.Mineral fortified

    3. Seperation           8. Smudge- free

    4. Lifts                       9. Clump-free

    5. All-day wear       10. Flake- free

maybelline great lash

Maybeline’s GREAT LASH on the other hand, does not  offer the same benefits!

In fact it doesn’t offer half of what LASH DOMINATION offers. I’m happy that I got a 30% discount on the day so it only came up to about  7 euros, but other than that this mascara only works for a daytime look, it just isn’t dramatic enough!

It’s not negative now, it does a great job at separating the lashes and making them look nice and healthy, but in terms of volume and thickness? This mascara was a miss for me!

Have you tried any of these two mascaras? If so feel free to share your thoughts below!
