5 major eyebrow mistakes you’re probably making

brows/ eyebrows/ Eyes

mistakes with eye brows

As you might have already guessed, I am big into eyebrows and if there was an award for the person who pays the most attention to their brows, I’d probably win it! (no jokes).

Not many people know that brows hold centre stage in the beauty world and if you don’t get your brows right, it can cause a lot more damage than you think: if you over tweeze, it can make you look lifeless and if you draw them on too harshly, they can make you look angry (even when you’re not).

Here are some of the big no-no’s when it comes to brows and how to fix them:

1. Trying to match your hair colour exactly to your brow colour
Some people are under the impression that if the hair on their head is black then their eyebrows have to be black as well – WRONG. The same way blondes shouldn’t go around with blonde eyebrows, people with black hair shouldn’t go around with black eyebrows.

The fix: Fair haired gals should opt for something a few shades darker and dark haired gals should invest in something two or three shades lighter.

2. Changing the entire shape of your brow
You wouldn’t be the first to obsess over Rita Ora’s glamorous brows and while they look fabulous on her, it doesn’t mean that her brows on your face would do wonders for you – harsh, but true.

The fix: Remember, everyone has unique eyebrows and it’s up to you to treat your brows as best as you can. Have a look at my tutorial to see how you can shape your brows.

3. Drawing on harsh lines and angles
If you’re using a brow pencil to fill in your brows, try not to lay it on too harshly. It will only make your brows look like they were tatted on – I’m pretty sure that’s not the look you want to go for.

The fix: A few light strokes should be enough to define the shape of your brow and then add some brow shadow to fill in the gaps. Remember to brush your eyebrows at the very end!

4. Not knowing where to end your brows
If your brows are too short they can make your nose look bigger than it actually is and if you don’t know how to do a nose contour, you’d be in a lot of trouble!

The fix: It’s all about symmetry really, but without getting too mathematical on this, just keep in mind that your brows should go as far as the corner of your eyes.

5. Doing your brows first
I might as well admit to this now: I do this quite a lot. I know, shame on me! But it’s mostly because I do my brows without any intention of putting on foundation on afterwards, but then I just end up changing my mind – typical!

The fix: Since your complexion changes after you apply foundation, bronzer or blush, always try to do them at the end (I’m speaking to myself as much as I’m speaking to you here!).

I hope you found this post useful and do let me know if these tips help you with your brows! Just remember: brows, they’ll either make you or break you – it’s up to you to decide.

How to have perfect eyebrows

how to have perfect eyebrows

Today, Bellefbeauty.com has another tutorial for you, and of course it would have to be about eyebrows, because anyone who knows me would know that I’m eyebrow crazy, to me,  it’s probably one of the fastest (and easiest) ways to Enhance What’s Yours (not to mention how perfect eyebrows just lift your face!)

So how can you have perfect eyebrows? It’s really simple, and as you can see, you really don’t need that many tools (so if you dare to leave your house without your eyebrows done, this is perfect for when you’re on the go!)

Without further ado, here are the steps for having perfect eyebrows:

eyeBROW-SHAPED-PERFECTLY

  1. Pluck out any unwanted hair – it will only get in the way!
  2. Comb out your eyebrows
  3.  Using an eyebrow pencil, outline your eyebrows to the shape that you want it to have.
  4.  Use an eyebrow powder that complements you (avoid using black alone even if you have dark hair)
  5. Fill in your brows using a brow brush
  6. Get a concealer
  7. Conceal above and below your brow using a concealer brush to perfect your brows and ensure that they are perfectly shaped
  8. Add a highlighter under your arch
  9. Voila! The complete look with some mascara!

Note: If you have stubborn brows, finish up with eyebrow gel- this will set your eyebrows and make sure your hairs are not flying around the place!

I know these eye brows are no Cara Delevingne (it wouldn’t be right to talk about eye brows and not give her a mention!) but you have to remember not everyone can have the same eyebrow shape.

If you’re unsure of what shape your eyebrows should have, check out my first post on perfect eyebrows.

Are you big into brows like myself, if so then how do you normally do your brows?

The power of your eyebrows

Beauty/ eyebrows/ Natural beauty

brows

A lot of people tend to underestimate exactly what their eyebrows do for their face, why? I’ll never know!  But what I do know is that beautifully groomed eyebrows really do transform your face and brings out your natural beauty. So if something takes very little time and also makes a huge difference to your appearance, then why not invest in it?

Doing my eyebrows almost comes as a second nature to me and I genuinely can’t imagine myself ever leaving the house without my eyebrows done especially since it only takes about 5 mins! But I should probably ‘fess up in case it ever comes out in the near future; there was a time in my life where I would spent almost 40 mins doing my eyebrows alone, I’d use hair removal cream, tweezers, brow pencil,  brow shadow and the whole shebang!! But looking back at my old pictures now, I can honestly say that all my efforts didn’t really do me any justice!

Over the years I learnt that less is more and that the less time I spend on my eyebrows the higher the chances of them turning out to be a tad bit normal!

The picture above is basically a sketch of what an ideal brow should look like. The first line represents the start of the brow, and this should be aligned  with the inner corner of the eye and the side of your nostril. The second line is the arch and it really does break my heart to see so many people getting this all wrong!  The arch should always be two-thirds of the way across the brow so unless you dress up as a drag queen  from time to time, there really is no reason why you should have your arch anywhere else. Finally, the last line represents where the brow should end and as you can see it doesn’t extend past the corner of the eye.

It’s that simple!

I have seen some cases where  people barely have any brows due to over tweezing and other cases where the brows are too far a part. All that can be fixed by adding a few strokes of a light eyebrow pencil. I like to use a brow shadow with a brow brush on top of my pencil because personally I think it adds more definition to my brows but at the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference. Lastly use a brow gel to keep all the hairs in place, if you have extra long hairs on your brows just use baby scissors to trim them off.

Now that I’ve gotten all that off my chest, let’s have a bit of a laugh! Here is a link I found  of a few celebrities without eyebrows:

I hope you have now realized the power of your eyebrows
