Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie: First Finish

Appearance/ Beauty/ maintenance/ product review

bare minerals marvelous moxie finish first best nude lipstick

Those of you who know me would know that I tend to go through a series of phases. Ever since my matte phase started dying on me I slowly started building an obsession with something new (I guess it’s true what they say ‘the only way to get rid of one obsession is to find another’) and in this case, my new obsession is with nude lipstick.

Of course it started off with nude nails (first indication of obsession), but as always I managed to find a way to get my hands on a nude lipstick that really blew me away: Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie: Finish First (19e)

This lippy really does glide on like a dream! So those of you who suffer from chapped lips will be more than happy to know that this product is very forgiving !

What I Iove:

1.This nude lipstick has a plumping effect so it gives you a nice and healthy pout (operating word being healthy)

2. It has a creamy texture it’s almost like putting butter on your lips!

3.It gives you a rich satin finish (you really  can’t go wrong)

4.It’s a nude lipstick that applies evenly

5. It’s long wearing so you don’t have to retouch too many times with this

6. It’s great for a day-time look and night-time look so you could get the best wear out of it

and last but not least……

It smells amazing!

If that isn’t enough for you to want one of your own, then I really don’t know what is! Even I have to admit that I’m glad they didn’t have the nude lipstick I was looking for in MAC the day I bought this, otherwise I would not have discovered this fabulous lippy at all.

Have you tried anything from the new Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip collection? If not, don’t you worry because you have loads to choose from! Bare Escentuals have recently released 20 new lippies, 10 liners, and 4 brand new Moxie lip glosses so I cannot wait to get my hands on more!

Nude lipstick: Are you a fan or a foe?

Beauty

I was recently nominated for the Liebster award….excited, enthusiastic and anxious, I just couldn’t wait to see what that meant! of course being me I quickly discovered that I was getting a bit ahead of myself….

The Liebster award is a way for early stage bloggers to connect and get to know each other.  ‘Liebster’ which is German for ‘beloved’ means that being nominated for this award meant that I was favored by the beautiful closbeautyspot to answer a few questions about myself….

To keep this nice and short, I decided to make a video for the second part of this task so get reading!

9. Night in or night out? Depends where I am!

10. What character would you be in Harry Potter & why? Harry Potter because he’s as complex as me!

We’re half way there everyone, here is a quick video on ’11 facts about me: IMG_0256 make sure you comment below on anything I’ve said in this video!

Guilty pleasure #2: Smoking

Appearance/ Guilty Pleasures

affects smoking appearance beauty health maintenance skin types skincare

I know this probably isn’t the best visual image against smoking, but like my first guilty pleasure post , I don’t intend to force any of my opinions on you, if anything, I just want you to become consciously aware of the affects it has on your appearance. Although you might think you’ve heard it all before, skin cancer, lung disease and so on and so fourth, I have one that might just surprise you!

Now I won’t say I’ve never tried smoking, because that would be a complete lie! Of course I’ve tried it once or twice, I think I might have even been hooked at some stage (I’ll say as much as that!) but with that awful smell that it kept leaving on my clothes, fingers and even my hair, it was enough for me to know that it wasn’t for me (not to mention the fear of being interrogated by the aul ones)
Now if I hadn’t chosen the route that I had at such an early age I would suffer from the following things (as if acne prone skin isn’t bad enough)
1. Good morning wrinkles!
According to experts, smoking speeds up the ageing process in a way that would make you look up to 2 years older than you are! So if you get offended when people think you’re a lot older than you are, don’t.
 2. A world of Yellow!
Nicotine causes your teeth to stain leaving you with what appears to be yellow teeth! Never an attractive look, especially if your teeth are one of the first things people see when they look at you.
It also causes your fingers to be yellow, again, not pretty! It might match your teeth but it could make things awkward when you go to shake someones hand!
3. Bye bye hair!
Not that I should worry about this one, with extensions being my best friend and all, but for all you non-extension wearers, experts say that the DNA in hair follicles can be damaged by the toxic chemicals in smoking! End result? Gray, thin and unhealthy looking hair!
4. Baggy eyes
Apparently smokers are 4 times more likely to feel unrested after a night out (don’t put the blame on alcohol! Smoking takes a fair share in this as well) End result?? Tiredness and baggy eyes.
6.Stretch marks!
Told you I might just surprise you! Cellulite is one thing, but imagine having stretch marks as well! Experts say that the nicotine(it’s always the bloody nicotine) damages fibers as well as connective tissue in your skin. This means your skin loses elasticity and begins to stretch. (I guess you haven’t gained weight after all……)
Among many other things these are just a few ways smoking can affect your overall appearance. If you’re interested in knowing more, find out here
If’ you’ve been smoking while reading this (which you probably have been) feel free to share this!

P.S. Don’t forget to subscribe to this blog to be in a chance to take part of my free giveaway! Feel free to leave any comments below 🙂

What’s your skin type?

Natural beauty/ Skincare
SkinTypesPhoto oily dry sensitive combination skin skin care maintenance women men grooming heath beauty moisturizing

Where do you lie?

Knowing your skin type is absolutely vital when you’re going to buy products for your skin because the last thing you or anybody else wants is getting a skin reaction from something that was recommended by a friend of yours because it did wonders on her and she is absolutely glowing now….

It might sound like common sense to you, but believe it or not, a lot of people need to be reminded that no two people are the same, what works for them mightn’t work for you and vice versa! But don’t lose all hope quite yet, there is something out there for everyone! All it takes is knowing what skin type you  have so this way you’ll know which products will(or at least they should) do wonders for you.

At this stage you might or mightn’t know exactly what skin type you have, and yes, we can all agree that generally your skin would be a lot drier in the winter, while on the other hand you might need a few pieces of blotting paper for your over working sebaceous glands in the summer

But this quick  ‘at-home skin analysis’  will help you be less doubtful….

Self-test: Skin Analysis

-Always analyse your skin after having cleansing it.

-Do NOT apply any moisturizer in case it interferes with your final verdict….

-If the overall texture is flaky then consider yourself a dry bird! shiny? then you’re definitely oily… smooth? then consider yourself lucky because you have normal skin! Reddish? sensitive! A bit of everything = combination

Other signs….

Normal : Smooth, small pores, good water/oil balance, high degree of elasticity

Dry: Tight after washing, looks flaky, dehydrated, invisible pores, poor elasticity shows fine lines the fastest

Oily: Shiny T-zone, visible pores, few signs of aging, frequent breakouts

Combination: Oily T-zone with dry cheeks, larger pores on the forehead, nose and chin, elasticity dependent on combination type

Sensitive: Can range from oily to dry, easily irritated, flushes easily, can appear patchy and red, itchy

These are the basic guidelines that everyone should be aware of because this way you will be in a better position to choose the right products for your skin type.

Since all of these are different, they require a different skin care routine, some more special than others so keep an eye for my post on maintaining these different skin types!

Now that you’ve graduated from part 1 of this course, go share your wisdom with your loved ones and help them properly identify their skin type!
