October Favourites!!!

product review

20161101_090312

Hello all! I’m back from a short blogging break! 🙂 Without getting into the details of why I needed to take a breather, let’s just say it was very much needed!

As a sweet ‘comeback,’ I’ve decided on a short and light-hearted post for you guys – I think it would be wise to save the heavier topics for when you’ve all recovered from the abandonment issues I’ve left you with!

So without further ado, here are the top three makeup products that I couldn’t take a break from over the past few weeks:

YOUNGBLOOD Contour Palette, €43

20161101_090350

Anyone who knows me would tell you that I am all about the natural look. I don’t like when my face looks or feels cakey as I find it rather uncomfortable. I never have that problem with this  little gem as it is light, breathable and adds a natural glow to your skin while adding definition to your face at the same time. It has three shades for highlighting and three for contouring, so it is suitable for a number of different skin tones. It is small and compact, and has everything you need for a natural chiseled look! Available online on Youngblood Ireland Direct.

Too Faced Melted Matte Drop Dead Red, €23, Debenhams

too-faced-meltedmatte

If you follow me online or in real life (whatever you’re into), then you would know that I’ve recently added two more lippies to my Too Faced collection. To say I am in love with my new buys would be a complete understatement! The two shades look quite similar in the photo , but when you have them on they’re incredibly different. The Melted Chocolate leaves more of a glossy finish, while the Melted matte glides on like a gloss, but then dries to an ultra-matte finish. I’m a massive fan of matte lippies as well as dark shades so I felt like the Melted Matte in Drop Dead Red was made for me! If you’ve been on the hunt for the perfect Autumn lippy, your search ends now 🙂

Benefit KA-BROW Eyebrow Cream-Gel Colour, €26 , Arnotts

ka-brow-benefit

Again, if you know me at all, you would know that I am brow crazy. I wouldn’t be one to judge others on their appearance, but if there is anything I’d call someone out on, it is their brows – sorry, not sorry! A defined brow makes the world of a difference to your face. This Benefit ka-BROW has exactly what you need to achieve flawless brows. This cream gel comes with an angled brush on the cap which you can use to go from a day look to a night. It is buildable, longlasting and waterproof – no need to worry about the rain washing your brows off, we do live in Ireland after all!

Have you tried any of these products!? Would love to hear your thoughts ! Tweet me @FilomenaKaguako 🙂

Teatox: 6 things I liked about Yo Tea

Health/ product review

yo-tea-2

I can already sense some of you diehard fitness fanatics judging me as I write this. But before you start going on a rampage about how much you dislike the idea of teatoxing, do hear me out. I was in no shape or form trying to lose a ton of weight when I first started this 28-day teatox – If anything, I could probably do with a few extra booty gains!

One of the main reasons why I decided to give Yo Tea* a try is because prior to starting it, I had fallen off track: I was incredibly stressed with work and other things so my diet was nowhere near where I wanted it to be, gym was no longer bae, I really needed something to give me a boot up the bum and Yo Tea did exactly that for me!

I took it for 28 days. Once a day for the first week because I wanted to introduce it to my body very gradually. And then after a few days or so, I started taking it in the morning and evening, as per instructed.

Yo Tea offers a highly effective detox solution based on an ancient recipe that was originally created to help with digestion. The special combination of plant extracts, herbs and Oolong Green tea, helps with the purification of the body’s cells.

Drinking Yo Tea tea daily, combined with regular moderate exercise and a sensible eating regime will help you to safely achieve your detox goal.

After reading up on Yo Tea, I thought it would be safe for me to start using it for a much-needed pre-holiday detox. So without further ado, here are the six things I liked about taking Yo Tea:

1. The toilet seat isn’t your best friend

Apologies for being so blunt, but I’m sure this is what most people would assume when it comes to teatoxing: In one end and out the other just as fast! Surprisingly enough, I didn’t pass stool excessively with this tea. They say it takes 8 hours for the laxative effects to kick in but for me it was usually within an hour. I don’t mean to over share, but I do think it’s important to highlight these things, especially if you plan on having one before taking an hour long bus journey to work, or God forbid, are staying over at a new partner’s place*awkward*  So to answer what you’re thinking, I didn’t spend a whole month with the runs! Again, apologies…

2. It helps remove harmful toxins

The only times Yo Tea had a laxative effect of me was when I ate junk food. Any time I nibbled on something even as little as a few nuggets from Mc Donald’s, I’d find my stomach getting crampy, noisy and then…. I’m sure you can figure out the rest!

3. It helps put you in the right mind set

Because of the unpleasant experience that can come from eating junk food while on Yo Tea, I found myself avoiding cheat meals a lot more than usual. Rather than snacking on ice cream or crisps, I’d have a homemade protein instead. It really put me in the right mind set of wanting to eat healthier.

yo-tea-4

4. It increases energy levels

I found myself going to the gym a lot more once I started taking this tea. I went at least three days a week, and sometimes even five! I slowly started to see my energy levels increase because of it and the gym became bae again 🙂

5. It reduces bloating

This is a massive one for me. Everyone who sees me tells me I don’t have a pick on me, however I do suffer from bloating and my stomach has always been a problem area for me. Taking Yo tea helped reduced the bloat for me and I even felt less sluggish after eating heavier meals.

6. It tastes like regular tea

Being a teatox newbie and seeing the awful effects teatoxing has had on people around me in the past, I just assumed this tea would taste awful too! It doesn’t. Yo Tea looks and tastes exactly like regular tea, it even tastes a bit sweet so you don’t always have to add a sweetener to it!

yo-tea

These are six things that I liked about Yo tea and this is how my body reacted to taking it. No two people will react the same way to a product because everyone’s body is different. Just remember, you can’t out run your fork and a tea isn’t a magic bullet for weight loss or good health. Do your lunges, eat your greens and if you can get Yo Tea as an addition to an already healthy lifestyle, then you’ll be all the better for it! 🙂

You can get a 30-day bag supply of Yo Tea (€29.95) exclusively from Therapie Clinic in store or online.

4 easy steps to bigger and bolder #benebrows

product review

benefit brows

If you followed my Instagram story on Monday (sorry Snapchat, I’m totally cheating on you), then you would know that I attended the Benefit Cosmetics Christmas launch party with my beautiful blogger gals where we got an exclusive preview of drool-worthy Benefit products that will be launching in the coming months – there’s a lot to look forward to ladies!

From eye brightening serum to emergency makeup kits, some of the new Benefit products look very promising and I am looking forward to trying them out – especially now that I’ve used the Bigger & Bolder Brows Starter Kit*

I hope that the products to come will help transform me into a glam goddess that I was destined to be 🙂

Dial up the drama with this buildable-colour kit. This kit is FULL-y equipped with everything you need for bolder, more dramatic brows!

So what is in this starter kit, I hear you ask?

benefit brows 5

  • Shaping stencils for an expert, personalized brow shape
  • Ka-BROW! cream-gel brow colour with a brush
  • High brow pencil, creamy brow highlighting pencil
  • Ready, set, brow! 24-hour invisible shaping & setting gel for brows

To get a wow-brow using this buildable colour kit, you can follow these 4 simple steps:

Step 1

BENEFIT BROWS 1

Choose a shaping stencil and then slide it into the holder. Position it along the base of your brow and make sure the pink line is aligned with the highest point of your brow. The first look is suitable for those who like an arched brow. If you prefer a straighter brow then I’d suggest look 2.

Step 2

BENEFIT BROWS 2

Remove the cap of Ka-BROW! Using a tiny amount of the cream-gel brow colour,  trace along the stencil using the brush. This will give your brow a flawless look. Remove the stencil and then fill in the rest of your brow. Repeat this for your other brow.

Step 3

benefit brows 3

Use the high brow pencil under the brow, following the arch. Lightly blend so it doesn’t look too harsh.

Step 4

benefit brows 4

Apply ready, set, brow 24-hour invisible shaping & setting gel on brows using the long-bristled side of the brush. Use the short-bristled side to sculpt and shape.

And there you have it, 4 simple steps to wow-brows! I’ve always been a fan of bold and strong brows, so this kit is perfect for me. However, if bold brows are not your thing, then worry not as there are two other starter kits to choose from: Soft & Natural Brows and Defined & Refined Brows – there’s something for everyone 🙂

The brow starter kits will be available nationwide from October 2016, RRP: €38.50

June Favourites!!!

product review

June faves

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all having a good weekend! For those of you going to Beyoncé  tonight: I hate you. Now that we’ve cleared that up, here is a roundup of the products I’ve been loving over the past few weeks 🙂

Dove Derma Spa Youthful Vitality Hand Treatment* 75ml, €5.99, Boots

junes faves dove

As you probably know at this stage, dry hands make me feel somewhat anxious. I know that sounds incredibly dramatic, but I genuinely struggle to sit still when I have dry paws! The Dove Youthful Vitality Hand Treatment is the most recent addition to my collection of hand cream faves. I love how absorbent it is and the velvety feeling it leaves after each use. It is the first spa-like treatment that combines a revitalising serum and cell moisturisers. So in plain English, it helps maintain younger looking skin! Added bonus? It has a warm floral scent which I’m an absolute sucker for!

Declare Cleansing Powder*, 200ml €24.50, Meagherspharmacy.ie

june faves cleansing pwder

It didn’t take me long to figure out why the Declare cleansing powder is the most used face cleanser of the brand. I think the powder formula makes this product very easy to use and perfect for travelling. All you have to do is mix a small amount of powder with water to create a foam. Gently rub it on the skin in a circular motion and then rinse away. It always leaves my skin with a soft and smooth texture without over-drying it. If you have sensitive skin, then this definitely worth trying as it is soap free and PH neutral.

Proactiv+ Redness Relief Serum, 50ml, €33, Proactiv.ie

june faves proactiv+

Any product that can be used as a face mask gets a thumbs up from me! This multi-purpose serum has a cooling effect that helps calm down any inflammation or irritation on the skin. It has a unique built-in stainless steel roller for easy application. You can roll on a thin layer of product over affected area or your whole face. I usually apply it all over and wear it as a face mask. I leave it on for up to 10 mins and then rinse off. For best results, store it in the fridge!

La Roche Posay Serozinc, 150ml, €10, Local Chemist

june faves la roche posay

This toning mist is great for cooling down the skin – I’m all about cooling today, aren’t I? I would love to blame summer for that, but we don’t get enough sunshine here for that argument to hold any truth. But for the rare occasions that we do, a cooling product like this can come in handy! La Roche Posay Serozinc has only 3 ingredients that work magic; thermal water, sodium chloride and zinc sulphate. This combo helps the skin control oiliness throughout the day. I use it after cleansing and before my moisuriser. Although it is targeted for blemish prone skin, I’d say it would be suitable for non-blemish skin too as it is very gentle!

Declare Sun Sensitive Sun Spray*, €29.95, Meaghersharmacy.ie

junes faves sun screen

I feel like I’ve just condensed all of my beauty obsessions into one blog post. First the hand cream, then the face mask and now sun screen!! No matter the season, an SPF of some sort is a must for me. I was actually in town with a friend yesterday and at some stage I had a random outburst because I realised I forgot to put on sun screen – whoops! It can be easy to forget, but with sprays like this it only takes a second to apply. The Declare Sun Sensitive spray doesn’t leave a white hue on the skin like other sun protecting products. It is very light and absorbs quite quickly.

Product Review: Regenerate Enamel Science Toothpaste & Boosting Serum Kit

product review

regenerate

Hello guys and dolls, I hope you’re all well and good! I’ve been super busy in the last month preparing for a TED Talk I gave in Galway last Sunday – I still struggle to say those words out loud without feeling a bit faint! Giving a TED Talk is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I cannot wait to share it with you guys 🙂

I’m back to reality now, which means I’m back to working and blogging. Today’s post is about a teeth whitening brand – exciting times! Anyone who knows me, would know that I am big into anything teeth-related. So much so that I’ve eliminated certain foods from my diet just to ensure I keep my pearly whites – I know, I’m such an extremist! However, after spending the last few weeks using REGENERATE products, I think I should be able to enjoy the odd coffee without worrying about ruining my precious teeth!

REGENERATE Enamel Science is said to be the first at home dental regime to help fight the effect of enamel erosion. Not only is it said to help replenish lost minerals caused by acid attacks, but it is also known to restore teeth to their natural beauty.

So are these claims something I can vouch for? Let’s find out! 🙂

REGENERATE Enamel Science Advanced Toothpaste, €13.99, Boots

regenerate paste

I was surprised by how quickly this product worked for me. I saw a difference within a week of using it. My teeth always feel squeaky clean after each use. Of the two REGENERATE products, this was definitely my favourite. A massive thumbs up from me!

REGENERATE Enamel Science Boosting Kit, €39.99, Boots

regenerate kit

I was really looking forward to using this kit because it is different from what I’m used to. It comes with a customisable mouth tray, a customising device, a mixing stick, a serum and activating gel. It’s pretty simple to use once you follow the instructions:

  1. Apply  a thin layer of the serum on the blue mouth tray.
  2. Add one layer of the activating gel on top and mix with the mixing tray.
  3. Apply on upper dental arch and hold for 3 minutes.
  4. Remove tray and rinse out and then repeat process with the lower dental arch.

Notes:

  • Be sure to soak the trays in hot water and customise it to fit your mouth before your first application.
  • Night time applications are preferable so that you’re not consuming anything afterwards.
  • Apply for 3 consecutive days on a monthly basis

If you’re someone who likes spending a little extra on dental care then these products are definitely something I’d suggest you try out. Otherwise, I think the Advanced Toothpaste alone is enough to give you the pearly whites I think everyone deserves!

Whatever you decide, just remember to smile while you still have teeth! Hope you enjoy this fabulous day 🙂

Product Review: Too Faced Melted Lipstick

product review

too faced ruby

So this day last week, I did something different.  I got myself a product I wouldn’t normally go for. I’ve always been a matte girl when it comes to lippies, so any lip product with a bit of a gloss tends to scare me – think hair down on a windy day, painful!

I must say, my stress and concerns about glossy lipsticks were quickly put to rest after I started using this Holy Grail product. This liquified lipstick by Too Faced has definitely set the bar high for any other glossy lipsticks I will be looking at from here on out.

too faced swatch 2

This shade in particular is called Ruby. It’s a blood red that is highly pigmented and buildable. One coat leaves a slightly matte finish and wears almost like a stain. However if you much rather a glossier finish, you can build it up! It isn’t overly hydrating when wearing glossy nor is it too drying as a stain. It feels very comfortable and lightweight on the lips, which I think is particularly important when wearing it glossy.

It wears really well during the day, especially when you use a lip liner before hand. The first time I used this lipstick without a lip pencil, I wasn’t impressed with the fact that I had to constantly reapply during the day – not something a lot of people enjoy doing. So I would definitely recommend using a lip pencil with it as it does absolute wonders with the longevity of it.

According to Too Faced, the Melted Liquified Long wear Lipsticks have

the staying power of stain, the intense colour of a liquid lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in one long-wear formula.

Mine certainly tick all three boxes and I can already see myself getting another bold shade -or two.

too faced selfie 2

The colours in this collection range from vibrant tones to more neutral shades and are available to purchase in Debenhams for €23.  Can you see yourself getting one? Tweet me @FilomenaKaguako 🙂

February Favourites!!!

product review

february faves

I was introduced to a number of new products in the last few weeks; some of which I couldn’t put down, and others I know I’ll probably never use! These little gems made it to the ‘couldn’t put down’ list as they are my ultimate February faves! 🙂

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Courture The Mats Lipstick #202, €33.00, Debenhams

february faves ysl

I was absolutely love struck when I first tried this lipstick on! I wasn’t wearing any foundation at the time and I still found it very flattering on my skin tone. I always say that if a lipstick can look good on you when you have no makeup on then you know it’s a keeper! This lippy is super pigmented and very long lasting (up to 6 hours). The formula is quite creamy for a matte lipstick, but that makes it glide on very easily. It isn’t drying at all and it doesn’t accentuate fine lines on the lips!

ALEX AND ANI Unexpected Miracles Spoon Ring, €36, Arnotts

february faves alex and ani

At the start of last month, I attended a breakfast event in Tropical Popical  for the ALEX AND ANI ring launch in Ireland. We got pampered with manicures and healthy treats, but best of all, we got a sneak peak at the brand new ring collection by this much-loved jewellery brand. Of the items I was gifted with, this Rafaelian silver wrap ring was by far my favourite. Not only is it a statement piece, but the meaning behind the ring is something I can resonate with and have always believed in. I love what it symbolises and I also how it looks on! There are four other spoon rings in this collection: Tree of Life, Hand of Fatima, Endless Knot, Lotus Peace Petals and Path of Life with equally powerfully messages.

The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector 100ml, €18.50

february faves the body shop

It comes as no shock to me that this hand protector is a best-selling product! I find it super softening on my hands and it relieves my skin even when it is at its driest. It restores the skin by adding moisture and suppleness to it and making it as smooth as silk! I am a firm believer that a woman should never leave the front door with dry paws and with this hand protector we’ll never have to! It has an unusually appealing scent of hemp which I wasn’t expecting at all.  I think it helps to add that this cruelty-free hand protector is a limited edition re-design by one of the world’s most renowned street artists – EINE. The word CHANGE communicates a positive message to remind us that the power of change is in our hands #EnrichNotExploit

Organic Surge Ultra Light Oil Control Lotion 50ml, €24.99, Allcare Pharmacies

february faves organic surge

Organic Surge is an affordable skincare range designed to give skin the loving and goodness it deserves by using natural and organic products. I was only introduced to their products last month, and of the three I tried and tested, I liked this product the most. It works amazingly well on my skin and I found that it really does regulate oil production as my skin has less of a shine whenever I use it. It is lightweight, subtly scented and has a velvety formula which absorbs very easily. I find that it always leaves me with a healthy glow!

PS Nails, €1.50, Penneys

february faves penneys

This is quite possibly the best thing that happened to me last month – I don’t even care how sad that sounds! For someone who naturally has good nail growth, I’ve been struggling to get my nails back to the length that I am used to. Acrylics, gels and shellac have done absolutely nothing to my nails but damage them, so I recently  decided to go back to basics. These nails are from Penneys PS Collection and come in a packet of 24 nails(nail glue included). I honestly wasn’t expecting them to last as long as they have but so far they have lasted me two weeks and they’re still going strong! I’ve used press-on’s before and found them very helpful with nail growth, so I’m really hoping that these guys have the same effect! Never thought I’d ever say this (so proudly too), but these are #PenneysFinest

I hope you enjoyed my post, let me know if your February faves were! Tweet me @FilomenaKaguako 🙂

Let’s talk about skin, hair and nails

product review

Perfectil original skim hair and nails

Growing up with acne-prone skin has turned me into a bit of a skincare junkie: from beauty tools to beauty products, I pretty much like to get my paws on everything and anything that will give my complexion even the slightest glow!

So when I read reviews on how Perfectil has been transforming people’s skin, hair & nails, I decided to do a bit of research myself!

Perfectil, a one-a-day beauty supplement, contains over 20 micronutrients that contribute to the maintenance of normal skin, hair and nails – every girl’s dream!

Vitamins B2, B3 and biotin are the active ingredients when it comes to maintaining normal skin. While the minerals selenium and zinc are responsible for the maintenance of normal hair and nails.

These nutrients are delivered through the very deepest level of the bloodstream to work their magic – I guess beauty really does come from within!

Perfectil is to be taken on a full stomach each day with a meal and usually takes about six weeks before results start to show!

There are some precautions when it comes to taking these supplements, particularly for pregnant women or breastfeeders. Like anything, it’s always a good idea to read the cautions before getting started!

January Favourites!!!

product review

jan faves

It’s never too late to talk about favourites, especially when it comes to the products I plan on sharing with you today! In the last few weeks some of these gems have been an absolute saviour to me. So sit back and relax while I let you in on what products I found difficult to put down over January!

Eucerin Dermo PURIFYER Scrub 100ml, €11.10, HICKEYS

eucerin jan faves

I wouldn’t be surprised if you guys are having dreams about Eucerin at this stage! This brand has been featured in my last few monthly favourites! I am honestly in love with the Dermo PURIFYER range as it has proved to work amazingly on my skin. This oil-free scrub works very gently on the skin, which makes it suitable for everyday use. Also, the lactic acid and pore-refining micro particles help reduce the appearance of blackheads and blemishes. Best part? It is non-comedogenic so it doesn’t block pores!

TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray 500ml, €6.73, BOOTS

tresemme jan faves

When it comes to my hair (slash weave) there are certain brands that I use repeatedly because they never fail to deliver. TRESemmé is up on the list so the results of this products didn’t come as a huge shock to me at all! It is fast drying, has a long-lasting hold, and doesn’t leave your with that awful dry feeling that some hair sprays do. J’adore!

Vera Wang Princess 30ml, €50.75, Debenhams

vera wang princess jan faves

They say the scent of every perfume you have reminds you of a certain period of your life. I first got Vera Wang Princess a good few years ago and then I stopped using it. I had forgotten how much I loved this scent until I started using it again only to fall in love with it all over again. I was absolutely thrilled to have this gifted to me in the last few weeks as I haven’t stopped using it since. It has a very feminine and youthful floral scent with a touch of dark chocolate. It is light, airy and not overpowering at all!

7th Heaven Dead Sea Mud Pac 20g, €1.40, HICKEYS

mud mask jan faves

I love a good face mask. Whether it is homemade or store-bought, I am all for a good face mask. Now, I don’t normally go for the little packets they sell in the chemist, but for some reason I decided to give this particular one try – and I’m glad I did! This hard drying cleansing mask leaves my skin feeling unbelievably smooth! Unlike some hard drying face mask, this comes off very easily! Cheap, cheerful, and does a good job! Can’t go wrong!

Lancôme Effortless Chic Eyes, €27.50, Arnotts

lancome jan faves

Yes, yes and yes! If I could only choose three products to give my face some life, then I would choose these three! This Lancôme set has a lash-lengthening mascara, a lip plumping gloss (slight obsession with making my lips appear bigger), and a kohl black liner. When I don’t have much time in the morning, I do my eyebrows (of course), then throw these little guys into my handbag! This trio will ensure your face never looks lifeless – even when you’re feeling basic! You’ll definitely get your money’s worth with this!

Hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you’re a fan of any of these! Also, don’t forget to enter my YSL giveaway! I have up to €100 worth of YSL makeup to giveaway ! Again, may the best woman win! 🙂

December favourites!!!

product review

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a fab New Years – I’m nearly certain I forgot to say it in my last blog post, sorry! But like always, I’ve been drooling over a couple of new products over the past few weeks and I just can’t help but share them with you guys! So here is a roundup of my ultimate December faves, I hope you’re ready 🙂

The Balm Nude’tude palette, €35.00, Debenhams

dec faves the balm

Love, love, love! Buy, buy, buy! Now, now, now!!! And just in case you didn’t get the message…..love it! buy it! NOW! This Balm Nude’tude palette has become one of my staple eyeshadow palettes in the last few weeks. It is a mix of matte and shimmer shades so you can use it during the day or at night. I’m not big into my shimmers, but I find that the shimmer colours in this paletter aren’t OTT. They are reasonably pigmented, extremely buildable and also long wearing. While I didn’t find the brush very useful, I do love the big compact mirror!

Sephora Lip Pencil in Deep Aubergine, $6, Sephora.com

dec faves sephora

This mini lip liner is by far one of my favourite lip pencils at the moment. For starters, I think the colour really compliments my skin tone, and it is super pigmented so you don’t need to use a lot of it to get the colour on. I normally use it over my entire lip and find that it glides on so easily, but leaves a semi-matte finish. It lasts the whole day in work and the only time I ever need to retouch is after having lunch! Worth every penny and it won’t even break the bank!

Eucerin Dermo PURIFYER Hydrating Care, €11.17, HICKEY’S

dec faves eucerin

I started using the Eucerin Dermo PURIFYER Cleanser a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t get over how amazingly well it worked on my skin. Because of my praise-worthy results (yes, they were praise-worthy), I decided to branch out and try out a few other products in this range. This oil free moisturiser is light, absorbs in quickly and leaves the skin with a mattified finish. It works really well under makeup as it is very smooth on the skin. I’d advise using it with the Eucerin Dermo PURIFYER Cleanser for better results!

Clarisonic, Mia 2, €149, Debenhams

dec faves clarisonic

If you’re big into your skincare, then this is definitely a beauty must-have! The Clarisonic Mia 2 has been in the market for quite some time now and there have been so many replicas of it. But to be quite frank, there’s no replacing it, especially since the cleansing system is patented! It has over 300 movements per second to leave your skin squeaky clean. It helps get rid of dirt, makeup and excess sebum, leaving the skin feeling smoother and healthier. I experienced a small breakout when I first used it, which was basically my skin purging and getting all the bad stuff out! Really looking forward to seeing what my skin is like in the next few months to do a full review!

Buffalo, Riviera new red patent, €125, Buffalo

dec faves rivieras

‘Give a girl the right shoes and she will conquer the world,’ these words definitely hold true when it comes to these little guys! I wore them for the first time on NYE and I lasted all night! A lot of people get thrown off by the height of high heels, but being the shoe expert that I am, I say it’s all about the structure and material of the shoe! The cushioned soles and leather lining in the Rivieras will ensure you have a comfortable night, as they did with me! I’m obsessed with the red patent, but they also come in 11 other colours! check Buffalo out in Arnotts and see for yourself!

What have you been obsessing over in the last few weeks! Would love to know!

Hope you enjoyed this post and thanks again for all the positive feedback on my celibacy article! I have some very exciting and hopefully, NON-CONTRIVERSIAL topics I will be blogging about soon! #WatchThisSpace 🙂

November favourites!!!

product review

november favourites

Is it just me, or did November just fly by? I can’t believe it is December already! The countdown has begun for the day we’ll all be stuffing our faces with roast turkey, creamy gravy and everything & anything that has even a pinch of cinnamon in it – that’s right, I’m an animal!

But enough about Christmas weight gain, today’s post is about a much brighter and positive topic: my ultimate beauty faves in November! Since my last monthly favourites got so much positive feedback, I’ve decided to round up yet another list of what I’ve been loving over the past few weeks – gotta love those lists!

Eucerin Dermo PURIFYER Cleanser 200ml,€11.17, HICKEY’S

nove gave

Where have you been all my life? Like seriously!? I bought this cleanser a few weeks ago (yes, bloggers buy things sometimes) and I honestly can’t see myself going back to anything else. It is super gentle on the skin, yet very effective at removing dirt and oil. It is also non-comedogenic, meaning it is formulated not to cause blocked pores. I think it helps to add that the Eucerin Dermo PURIFYER Cleanser is effectively proven on patients with blemished or acne prone skin –safe to say that I can attest to that!

Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream 100ml, €17, Debenhams

nove 5

If there’s any feeling in the world that I just cannot handle, it is the feeling of dry hands. I am even known for it by my colleagues. In work, I leave lotion at handy to ensure that my skin is always soft to touch. Out of all the creams I have left in the till drawer, this hand cream is by far my favourite. The Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream is super rich, super effective and super soothing – it’s all in the name really! The tiniest amount makes such a huge difference as it soothes even the driest patches. This rich, moisture-replenishing cream is also great for treating areas like elbows or knees! A definite must try in my books, especially since it’s a limited edition!

Infinity Cellulose Sponge, 2 for €1.99, Pharmacies

nove 4

Okay, this might seem like an odd one because it isn’t exactly like any of the other two products I’ve mentioned so far, but nonetheless, I feel that they deserves just as much praise! I found that these little guys are brilliant for removing every trace of makeup. Along with a facial wash, a cellulose sponge can gently exfoliate the skin leaving it cleaner and fresher. They are naturally hypo allergenic meaning they are unlikely to cause a reaction. Lastly, they are cheap and cheerful, so if you’re anything like me, that’s enough of a reason for you to want to try one out!

Rituals Fortune Oil Sweet Orange & Cedar Wood 200ml, €8.50, Arnotts

nove faves

I got this shower oil in a set a good few months ago, but only started using it recently (beauty blogger problems). I must admit, I am glad I started using this when I did, otherwise I would be completely unaware of how amazing this product is. Not to throw shade at any of the other products that came in the set, this oil is a real star in the range. It becomes a soft and silky foam once in contact with water and leaves a lingering smell on the skin after the bath. And as you know, I love my baths and I love anything the plays with my sense of smell! J’adore!

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Skin Protectant Cream 50ml, €33, Arnotts

nove faves 3

Last, and certainly not least, is my Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream. There’s no better time to use this legendary skincare product than now! With the cold weather creeping in, our hands, lips and skin are subjected to dryness. This stuff does absolute wonders to the skin as it keeps it protected from harsh weather conditions. Some like to use it to shape their brows, or soothe dry hands, but I like to use it on my lips, my cuticles and in between my fingers.

I hope you enjoyed reading my monthly favourites as much as I enjoyed using them – okay, maybe not that much! Have a fabulous first of December and fingers crossed you close the final chapter of this year with a bang! 🙂

Feel So Good with The Body Shop’s Seasonal Range

product review

frosted plum

As you’ve probably guessed at this stage, I’m a complete junkie when it comes to The Body Shop. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I’m a big lover of taking soothing baths and I’m absolutely drawn to everything and anything that entices my sense of smell – the one thing The Body Shop never fails at!

So when I got the opportunity to attend The Body Shop’s Feel So Good Christmas event and take some products home with me, my anticipation to relax in my tub went sky high. If you’re big into your baths then you would understand the difficulty I had in containing my excitement. The Body Shop’s NEW seasonal range includes body butters, bath frizzers, scented candles and more!

frosted plum range

The Frosted Plum range has just about everything you need to turn your Christmas into a magical one. With notes of ripe plum, magnolia and peony, this special collection is for those who want an indulgent and fruitful bath experience. Of the products I tried and tested, these are by far my top three faves:

Frosted Plum Shimmer Lotion 250ml, £8.00

frosted plum shimmer lotion

This lightweight shimmer lotion leaves a lovely sparkle on the skin after application. I used it almost immediately when I got home from the event! Due to my dark skin tone, I found that a little bit really does go a long way with this product. I recommend using this shimmer lotion on the legs before a festive night out. The sparkle will highlight your legs, which will really elongate them – hello VS model legs!

Frosted Plum Shimmer Mist, 100ml, £8.50

shimmer mist

Love, Love, LOVE!!! This globe shaped shimmer mist has a very unique fruity and floral scent. It leaves a subtle sparkle on the skin, which means you can use it during the day without looking too shimmery. It lightly fragrances the skin and leaves your body with a fresh feeling – you can’t go wrong!

Frosted Plum Candle, £10.00

plum candle

The cherry on top of any luxurious bath is a scented candle. Like the rest of the Frosted Plum range, the Frosted Plum candle has a fruity fragrance with notes of ripe plum, magnolia and peony. It really adds to the pamper experience because the aroma of the candle just fills the room up – talk about getting the full package!

These three guys are my absolute faves in this collection and I’m dying to try the Frosted Plum Lip Balm – what doesn’t thing collection have, right!?

frosted plum range

If you’ve tried any of the products from the NEW Frosted Plum range do let me know, so we can share our pampering experiences! If not, then get shopping ladies! I think it helps to add that The Body Shop has teamed up with Water Aid to help provide families in Ethiopia with drinkable water. With every specially selected gift bought this Christmas, a family in East Africa gets access to safe drinking water.

Have you done your good deed for the day? 🙂
